When you’re going through a hard time, whether it’s a break up or a bad day at work, sometimes you just need a little chocolate!
If you know someone who needs a smile back on their face, send them an emergency care package. There is nothing better than something sweet and a cheesy playlist (you know the ones…they usually involve a little Wilson Phillips “Hold On”). We found these fun chocolate bars at our local card shop, but frankly, if you’re having a bad day, any chocolate will do. We used our clear labels for our “prescription” on the outside of our metal CD containers. Add a some twine and your friend will have a little joy in their heart in no time!
So, if you were to make a cheesy playlist, what would you be listening to. Don’t worry, we won’t tell anyone

The fall chill (or snow…eeek!), has us craving some good old fashioned comfort food. Why not invite some friends over this weekend, watch the game on t.v. and serve up some shepherd’s pie in our Hip 2B square containers.
They are the perfect size for a single serving, and they look kinda cute too! Make up a mixed salad and serve it in another. If you don’t like shepherd’s pie, you could have some mac and cheese, tuna casserole, chili…whatever you like best.

Having just returned from Europe, we have to say, these Europeans sure know how to get the cocktail hour right! In France they call it “l’apéro”, in Italy it’s called “apertivo”. We call it “yum!”.
You see, not only can you have your glass of wine, prosecco or a campari and soda, but they also bring you all kinds of things to nibble on. Sometimes it is as easy as potato chips, other times it can be olives, peanuts and crackers. It a great way to avoid those hunger pangs before dinner.
We decided to Garnish or own cocktail hour. We made up our own version of caprese salad on a stick, served in our clear plastic mini cups. And what about some crackers to munch on in our french fry scoop.
What ever you decide to serve, the whole point is to slow down, catch up with friends and reflect on the day. I think Tory says it best from the HIP blog..
If there’s something the French know how to do well, it’s give themselves a break (or rather, a pause). They see downtime as a preventative measure, a means to avoiding exasperation (as opposed to an emergency response to it). Whereas many of us wear ourselves so thin that we desperately need whatever it is (a break, a drink, a vacation), in France, it’s more about “we deserve this” than “we need this.”
So call up some friends, pull the snacks out of the cupboard, and give yourself a Garnish’ed up l’apero…you deserve it!

This week’s posts are going to be dedicated to saying thanks. Like “thanks for dinner”, or “thanks for watching the kids this weekend”, or “thanks for taking the time out to come over some drinks”. It doesn’t take much time to put together a little something to bring a smile to someone’s face! That’s what Garnish is all about.
I know we just showed you the cupcake bag last week, but we’ve got so many ideas for our new Garnish! Wouldn’t you know it, it fits our ripple cup just perfectly. We added some kettle corn and decorated the bottom of the bag with some candies. This was super easy, and we just know it’s gonna make everyone smile!

Mother’s Day is May 8th…mark it in your calendars! It’s a day to celebrate being a Mom….and what better way, then to throw a brunch for some of your favorite Moms. No kids, no husbands and no deadlines. Just a time to get together, have some girl talk and maybe a few cocktails!
One of our favorite brunch menu items is bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. A bagel is the perfect fit inside our round deli container. And see that label…that’s free with your purchase!
Our wooden cutlery is the perfect choice…quick clean up! Want a fun way to personalize each place setting? How about using rub-on letters to write each person’s name on their cutlery. It’s so easy to do, and you can find them at your local craft store. See that cup wrapper…also free with purchase!

No matter what the season, there is one treat that is always satisfying…ice cream!
Karalee of Karalee Designs thinks so too. Using out pint size containers and square kraft labels, she created a perfect goodie for her friends and family. Now, she’s very talented in the graphic department (isn’t that label so cute!) so don’t get caught up on not being able to re-create such a thing. Remember, simple words/fonts/colors work perfectly too! For an extra touch, attach a wooden disposable spoon to the container.
So whether it’s freezing outside (nature’s storage for that ice cream!) or warm and balmy (yes, jealous!) in your neck of the woods, we ask you…why not Garnish your ice cream and surprise someone in your life?!
BTW…did you know that if you press your thumb to the roof of your mouth it will get rid of a brain freeze?!

We all have our little innocent secrets. It’s what makes life interesting. Here’s one of mine.
Last weekend I was invited to a fabulous Welcome to the New Year party. It’s always a great time, filled with lovely friends and delicious food. The hostess had asked for everyone to bring a favorite appetizer or dessert – and with 40+ people on the invite list, that’s a lot of yummies! I knew of this party for weeks and yet the day arrived and left me with “what am I going to make?”. With the daily demands, I was left perplexed and in a frenzy of what to do. Chips and dip? Boring. Brownies? Nah. Whip something totally from scratch? No time.
So I did what I do best. I resorted to my tried and true packaged desserts, added a little Garnish and the result was deliciousness for both the eyes and soul. I present you with Uncle Ben’s rice pudding. A perfect winter day comfort food. And the best part, the only ingredient I needed to add (from my bare cupboards/fridge) – milk. This is a staple item of my pantry. You never know when you’ll need a go-to dessert and it has yet to fail me. Folks are always surprised when I admit (when pressed for a recipe it’s hard to escape) it came from a box. But what really makes this dessert special on that night, was the presentation. The 4oz kraft ripple cups and demi-tasse wooden spoons served both myself and the guests well. I brought 10 (back to all that food!) and when I left I think there was only one left.
The best part. I didn’t have to worry about a goopy dish to bring home. I didn’t have to worry about the hostess feeling obligated to wash my dish. Just simply grabbed my (clean) tray I used to bring it over when I headed on home.
Simple. Easy. Yummy.

Are these sounds familiar? Bang…bang, beep (no, not a car, the fridge announcing the door being open too long), beep. Or how about “There’s nothing to eat!” or “I’m tired of that.”.
Yes folks, it’s the dreaded snack time. Whether the clock is announcing the kids return home from school or the mid-day weekend, the munchies have struck and they need not only be fulfilled but satisfied. You bake, you buy, you provide but in the end what these munchies really want is a little variety.
So we bring to you, the snack switch. Think cookie swap, taken to the next level. Variety isn’t always easy to achieve on your own. You bake a delicious applesauce cake and then must eat said cake for the next week. You whip together a batch of muffins, and there you eat them…for the next week. The food is there, but the “switching it up” is not.
In this season of gathering, bring together your Besties and their favorite snacks. Then you got it, swap! Think all baked goods…muffins, breads, cookies, homemade Chex and nut mixes, flavored popcorns. Now, think Garnish for all your packaging needs. After all, you’ll want to swap in style. Consider including a few packaging goods along with the invite. The beauty of the Garnish just might help bring some inspiration into the kitchen, and make it all a little easier for everyone. We’d like to suggest the bio-pak containers, soup containers, cardboard clamshells, round hinged containers and lined tie top bags as some options for you. Of course, labels, twine and tissue will add to the pretty yet simple presentation.
Here’s what happens at the snack switch. You laugh, you share stories, you admire your friend’s new shoes, you have fun! You leave with a little something from everyone to satisfy and fulfill the munchies in your home. A different snack for every day of the week. You end the bangs and the beeps. You bring happiness to snack time.
Now, that’s what we call a win-win!
Note: round label pdf can be found here and the square here.
