We have to admit…we went a little crazy at the craft store.  There is just so much cute Easter stuff and our mind was buzzing with ways to decorate our Garnishes!

We decided to dress up our wooden serving boat.  We found this great product called Smooch Spritz.  It’s a shimmery accent spray that works perfectly for small craft projects.  We sprayed the bottom of our wooden serving boat and added some festive Easter decorations.  This would be a so pretty for your Easter table.  You could also use the same idea on our wood paper cup and fill it with some pretty spring flowers.

Easter gifts don’t always have to be about candy, so why not try something new this year.

How cute are these pencils in our clear candy tube?  We also tied on some fun Easter erasers in our medium glassine bag.  You can always find stuff like this in the dollar bin at Target or Michaels.  Don’t forget to sharpen those pencils before you wrap them up…it makes it easier for everyone!

It’s already March, which means it is almost Spring (YAY!) and  we’ve got a bunch of holidays coming up that could use a little Garnish!  First up…St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s easy to do something quick and simple for this March 17th holiday.  Whether you choose some cookies, four leaf clovers or lucky gold coins (of the chocolate variety), our kraft treat bags are the perfect package.  We found these cute pins at Michaels.  Not only do they hold your package closed, they are also a fun to wear!  Maybe they are even lucky and will help you find the pot of gold…

28 January 2013

Happy Monday everyone!  What do you have in store for the week?  Are you looking for some inspiration for Valentine’s Day?  Well, we have a recap of some of our faves…

Top:  Our version of the “love shack”.  It was super easy to make with wafer cookies.  We also used the rub on letters you can find at the craft store.  Check out the full post here.

Bottom Left: Simple and sweet…conversation hearts and cinnamon hearts in our candy tubes.  Check out the post here.

Middle Bottom: Fancy up some of our paper straws with hearts.  So easy!  Check out the post here.

Bottom Right: This is a DIY.  We traced hands out of construction paper and made a flower.  How fun!  Check out the post here.

Stay tuned, because there will more Valentine inspiration to come this week!

24 January 2013

Yes, it’s hard to believe that January is almost over!  (thankfully, as we are in a deep freeze here)  That means it is time to think about what you’re going to give your valentine…

Here is a fun and quick idea for you.  Rice Krispie Treats mini heart cakes.  Rice Krispie Treats are just about the easiest thing to make.  Here is a recipe for you.  Make a large pan of squares and simply use three different sizes of heart cookie cutters to cut out your shapes.  Stack them on top of each other.  Next  melt some red chocolate in the microwave and drizzled it on top.  Finally, place into one of our small acetate boxes with some cinnamon hearts.  We had this pretty ribbon that we found at our local craft store to complete our Valentine treat.  Aren’t they cute?  These would be adorable for your child’s class or your favorite co-workers.

We’ve got a DIY for you today, and it involves glitter!  You might remember last year Oh Happy Day did a glitter DIY with some of our Garnishes.  We decided to to add some festive color this year and try it ourselves.  Here is what you will need.

We used spray glue, but if you are doing this with children, you might want to use white glue or even double stick tape.  Remember, if you use spray glue, do so in a well ventilated area.  Spray glue is awesome…but it stinks!  We used a lined cookie sheet to dump the glitter on to.  Then we sprayed our Garnishes and rolled them around in the glitter.  You can also use a soft brush to get rid of any excess glitter.  Just let it dry and you’re good to go!  We used the wooden cups, but this would work great on the berry boxes, cutlery or wood cones.  You can even add some glitter to the lids of our no soup for you containers.  How fun would they be filled with cookie dough at your holiday cookie swap.

We decided that our glitter cups worked perfectly on the mantle as candle holders.  They are wood, which catches on fire….so please, use battery operated candles in these ones!

29 November 2012

Today’s holiday treat is a fun one.  We were inspired by the fun little spatula that we found at Target that was less than $2.  Next we found some holiday duct tape in our stash.  You can find these patterned duct tapes everywhere now, and they are a fun way to personalize your Garnishes!

We used this recipe for gingerbread mix and put some inside our small gable box (inside a bag of course!) printing out the baking instructions on a card.  We wrapped the duct tape around the box, slid in the spatula and tied it all up with some red and white bakery twine.  Wouldn’t this be a fun teacher gift? How about leaving it inside your mailbox for a sweet surprise for your mail carrier?  Either way, it’s sure to put a smile on someone’s face this holiday season.

Are you hosting the Thanksgiving celebration this year?  Are you looking for a small something to give your guests?  Well, we have a solution for you.

How about giving some festive tea lights packaged in our burlap bags…so easy and simple.  We used some decorative leaves that we found at our local craft store that we attached to a a simple tag we made out of some kraft paper that we put through the printer.  Another great idea would be to use this gift as a place card.  Instead of using the word “thankful” just replace it with the name of your guests.

31 October 2012

First of all, we want to send out a whole bunch of Garnish good vibes to our friends who had to brave Hurricane Sandy.  We hope you are all safe and sound.  We know there was A LOT of devastation on the east coast and our thoughts are with you :-)

Now, on to something a bit more cheery…and easy to do (we love that!).  It’s tape.  We know…you’re thinking we’ve lost our minds, but the new (or old…we might be late to the tape craze) paper tapes or “washi” tapes are all kinds of awesome.

We know there are some super fun patterns out there, but we found our tape at Target, which also means it was inexpensive.  We loved the simple dots and lines and thought it was perfect for our Garnishes.  We used it on our cutlery and coffee clutch, but you could add it to just about any one of our Garnishes.  How cute would it be to add to our glassine or cello bags with your holiday baking tucked inside? (Did we just say Holiday?  Yep, we’re going there folks!)  What we really like about this tape, is that it peels of easily, so if you screw up putting it on, you don’t damage anything.  Cute and goof proof?  That’s our kind stuff!
