Summer has finally begun, and the kiddos are out of school. That last week is always a crazy one…especially trying to find the perfect gift for all the teachers and teaching assistants. We like to give to gift cards, something the teacher can use for the classroom and something they can use for themselves.
What better way to package them, then in our new paper card sleeves. Remember, you don’t always have to do something up on the computer, or add fancy flourishes…sometimes a colorful Sharpie does the trick! That’s just what we did with ours, and we think they look pretty great.
What are your summer plans? Are you heading out to the lake, a road trip or sticking close to home? Whatever your plans, we know that the new issue of Garnish – the magazine is going to have lots of fun summer ideas for you. Look for it in this space soon!

Is it the middle of May already?! Time to start thanking those men and women who spend all day with your children…their teachers.
We found this very cute apple scrub brush in the dollar bin, and it was the jumping off point for this fun gift. Along with a cute tea towel and mini size soap, we put in a well deserved gift card. And of course, we just had to use our new paper card sleeve and oval label to jazz it up. Our cardboard clamshell keeps everything where it should be on the bus ride to school. We think your child’s teacher will appreciate this one!
What do you like to give as a gift to the teacher? Do you have a go-to gift or an idea you’d like to share? Leave us a comment….we’d love to hear from you!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Don’t worry if you forgot, we’ve got a great idea for you. And the best part…it is super easy! You know how sometimes you leave an apple on the teacher’s desk? Well kick it up a notch and leave an apple pie!
It just so happens that the mini apple pies that they sell at Starbucks fit perfectly into our large nut and party cup. It was meant to be. We added in of our Say What? wooden forks, jazzed up with some ribbon (just use a handy glue dot to attach it). That’s all there is to it. If you don’t have a Starbucks in your neck of the woods, there are lots of mini treats to be had at your local bakery or grocery store. Say “thanks”, the Garnish way!

Yes…we think it is finally happening…spring has sprung! That means that the school year will soon wind down. Maybe it’s time to start thinking about how you’re going to thank those teachers that make your kids want to go to school everyday! (well, most of the time) Jaime sent us an email to let us know what she did for Teacher Appreciation Week…

Problem: You’ve got the munchies. You need a quick boost of energy. You need it now. Those 20 (give or take) faces staring at you are expecting you to perform. Thing is, you can’t leave your classroom to grab a bite.
Solution: Reach in your drawer and grab something from your snack attack box graciously given to you during Teacher Appreciation Week by a caring, and understanding, parent.
Want to be that parent, friend or colleague? Easy. Because you have Garnish.
We saw this idea in a catalogue and we made it our own. No need to use their, no offense, sorta cheesy boxes. Use a blank slate and make it your own. We used the squat white gable box for one of our snack attack boxes and the 4x4x4 kraft box for the other. How fun is the packing list label on the gable box?! Really any container or bag will do the job.
What you put inside is your choice. Anything to curb the hunger. But since we did ours for Teacher Appreciation Week we put the following:
Mini Chips Ahoy – Because you’re always willing to chip in with a helping hand.
Mounds Bar – For the mounds of appreciation you deserve.
Cup of Soup – Because you warm our hearts with your commitment.
Pretzels – For being someone we can count on in a crunch.
Popcorn – Because we’re bursting with gratitude for you!
Teacher Appreciation Week begins May 3rd. Administrative Day is April 22nd. Nurse’s Day is May 12th. Great idea for bridesmaids and groomsmen too. For that matter, snack attacks happen to all of us.
FYI…all the items we listed will fit in square kraft box, with the lid open. You could always substitue some items to be able to close the lid. For example, take out pretzels and put in Kit Kat bar and you can use the same saying. The packing list label had to be trimmed to fit on this particular box.
If anyone loves the packing list idea as much as we did, we’ve got extras that we don’t need. Just put in the comments section of the shopping cart the number of labels you would like and we’ll include them in your order…for free (while supplies last)!
Keep those munchies at bay, the Garnish way!
