We are always trying to come up with unique ways for you to use Garnish products.  That cup may look like it’s for coffee, but with a little imagination…you can turn into something else entirely.  What we like about these ideas….is that they are all about hanging around!

Looking for a fun way to surprise someone in your house on their birthday, or for a special occasion….look no further than their doorknob!  Here we used the ripple cup to hold some spa goodies, perfect for pampering on their birthday.  What a treat to find just hanging around!

We are always talking about unique ways to say thank you or to welcome your guests.  How sweet would this bouquet, arranged in our fry scoop, be hanging on the doorknob of your guest room.  Also a great idea to hang onto the hotel door of guests at your wedding or family reunion.  Take that one step further…how about hanging all the way down the aisle for your church ceremony?

Are you constantly forgetting things as you are running out the door in the morning?  Are you looking for ways to create some organization for all that mail?  What about using our new drink holder.  Hanging from a hook or a door knob near your entrance, you will never misplace those bills again.  It’s perfect for storing pencils, magazine, stamps and envelopes.

We would love to know what unique ways you Garnish….leave us a comment and tell us how!

4 July 2011

We hope that you are all having an awesome 4th of July weekend!  Today we are re-posting this “What I Like About You” from last summer.  It celebrates the red, white and blue….and all that summer has to offer!

Do you hear it?!  The giggles of little ones, the laughter of grown ups.  The lively chatter of folks visiting and catching up.  The squeals of delight as friends and family reunite after a too-long absence. What’s that you ask?! Why, those are the sounds of water splashing, motor boats whirring, and paddles dipping in the lake.

Ahh, the sounds of summer.  The enjoyment of celebrating the 4th of July.  I bet you’re smiling right now just thinking of it all.  And we’ll double down, and bet you’ll enjoy these 4th of July party ideas and inspirations even more.

What’s that noise?  It’s the gentle flap of the flag dancing in the breeze. Red, white, and blue…the colors of Old Glory. And what’s this you see?  A festive party favor for your holiday table.  Candies in a 3x3x3 clear acetate box wrapped in red and white twine.  Imagine a table or tiered stand filled with these. You know how we love us something sweet!

Can you hear the sizzle of the grill?  The cooking mode of choice for an independence day festivity.  The paper chipboard tray is the serving style of choice.  Your hotdogs and sides will rest comfortably here. Burgers and lobster rolls too!  Chopped pickles in the oval dip cups and condiments in the 2oz plastic bottles (thanks to this Garnish customer for that brilliant thought!).  Give your guests a helping hand and put together disposable wooden cutlery and paper straws and a napkin too in the small white paper bag.  A pretty trim of the bag adds to the beauty.

Do brain freezes make a noise?  I don’t know about that, but I do know that everyone loves something cold on a hot summer day.  Make your own snow cones in our white paper cone cup and serve with a wooden spoon. Anything cold will do, sorbet, granita, or freeze juice in ice cubes tray.  Put those frozen cubes in a plastic bag and give it a bang.  That’s what we did and it looks pretty darn yummy!

Crackling, snapping, and maybe a little singing.  The sounds of a campfire.  A favorite way to end the day.  Gathering around the warmth of the flame and watching fireworks or fireflies.  There’s still room in those tummies for a gooey marshmallowy, chocolately treat.  Presenting all the ingredients to make your s’mores in a 4x4x4 white box, and sweet sentiment on a square clear label, will really cap off your holiday right.

We love the sounds of summer and we love the sight of a Garnished one!

Don’t forget to click on a pic if you want to see it in its full glory.

It’s so easy to make a Random Act of Garnish.  If you’re stumped on how you can participate or what to give, no worries…we’ll give you lots of ideas.  The whole point of Random Acts of Garnish, is that they are supposed to be easy for you to do.  So, when you are browsing the blog during the next few weeks…look for these symbols to let you know just how easy it is!

Our first idea is perfect for the receptionist at your Doctor or Dentist’s office.  Or even the secretary at your children’s school that always helps you out.  Literally, it’s easy as 1, 2, 3!

All you need is one of our to-go cups, a spoon, some twine and the beverage of your choice.  That lovely hang tag – we’re giving it to ya along with a slew of other label templates. Don’t forget to tuck in the little pay it forward card, in case your Garnishee would like to bring a smile too.  Honestly, the biggest decision you will have is which free printable you should use!

There is something really special about giving a homemade gift…they are always created with love.  And with the holiday season quickly approaching, it is good to have a few ideas for hostess gifts and party favors!  We think one of the best things to bring to your favorite hostess is a delicious treat, baked with love.  Not too mention, there are so many ways to Garnish it up!

Not only are our loaf pans great for baking, they are also pretty handy for stacking up some cookies!  Here we used our large loaf pan, lined it with some of the caramel waxed tissue, and tied it up with some baker’s twine.  Here’s a hint, why not use some of those nifty craft scissors to make a pretty edge on your tissue.

Our cello bags come in three different sizes, and are perfect for packaging up your favorite treat.  You could even use some fun patterned paper to line your bag, then choose one of our four colors of twine to pull it all together!

There is nothing better than the surprise of a pretty white box filled with sweet treats!  Our white rectangular boxes are perfect for cookies.  Why not use one of our labels to add a little message, or a hint of what might be inside.

However you show some props to the hostess with the mostess, Garnish is the perfect way to give some homemade love!

Scents are memories. They take us to moments we remember with a smile, a chuckle…a place in time. We remember the smell of our grandmother’s kitchen or the aroma of the dinner at your wedding.

Our homes can be filled with a menagerie of goodness coming from the kitchen. Or it can be filled with something so wonderful, simple, and distinct that your mouth starts doing a little dance.  And in this case, we speak of popcorn. You can’t whip up a batch of popped kernels without bringing on the masses. There’s no hiding it, no keeping it all for yourself. So you might as well share…just make sure you pop extra.

Trade in the sweet table for a salty treat instead. Place out trays of plain popcorn in white food trays for your guest to enjoy. To add a little excitement, serve an assortment of seasonings to garnish those kernels.  Here we have seasoned salts, cajun mixes, and cinammon sugar presented in the 4oz kraft ripple cups and wood serving boat.  The wood demi-tasse spoons keeps everything neat.

We think this would be great fun at a wedding, special celebration or football Sunday. Here are some thoughts, big bowls of plain popcorn (with seasonings on hand), caramel, strawberry glazed…or any of the glazed flavors that match your color scheme. Set out an assortment of small lunch bags or cellophane bags for everyone to take home some crunch.

What do we like about popcorn? Everything!

It’s that time of year again. Time to start setting the alarm clock a little earlier, establish routines, and make sure the kids get to the bus stop on time.  And this got us thinking, why not add a little Garnish to the new school year?! Here’s what we like about back to school and some inspiration.

Back to school always reminds us of that Staples commercial where the parents are singing “It’s the most wonderful time of the year”, and the kids are looking depressed. So brighten up their day with their favorite snack. We put some yummy cookies into our glassine bags and sealed it with (a kiss) kraft label sporting a special message. Tuck it into their book bag for a welcomed surprise at lunch time.

Ah, the back to school chaos. Trying to find the right notebook, book report, homework sheets…when you need to!  Tame the clutter with our wide variety of labels. Thus will end the frantic searches, and frustrations, as everyone is rushing out the door.

Have teenagers? Get patience. Their alarms never seem to go off early enough to give time for breakfast. Why not make some hot chocolate and serve in our new ripple cup. Tuck a granola bar in their book bag and they have something to enjoy on the ride to school.  Too hot for hot cocoa? What about a smoothie instead, along with a cheery paper straw, they are sure to feel like they’ve stopped at the expensive coffee store on their way to school.

Back to school may have it’s challenges. But when they’re Garnished, everything suddenly becomes better.

16 August 2010

Well, the weather’s warm and the days are long, we’re always on the run. And as we grab and go to keep our bellies full, why not have it all be fun?!

A snack of calcium, fiber and vitamin C. Also known as cheese, crackers + apple slices. Put it together in the deli containers for a healthy bite, on the run.

Whether they’re green, yellow, orange or red, veggies will look divine in a rounded take out container accompanied with a disposable wooden fork. Not everyone may love their veggies, but we bet everyone can agree that they are fun, on the run.

Food on the ready, in a squat gable box, when hunger pains strike. Now that’s an idea that makes me happy when I’m, on the run.

Break out. Break free. And enjoy your food, on the run.

4 June 2010

It’s important to us, here at Garnish, to offer ideas and inspiration. So we bring you a new series called “What I Like About You”. Today, we bring you what we like about teachers and end of school teacher gifts.  I enjoy being able to volunteer in my boys’ schools. But I also really enjoy being able to leave.  I think it must be akin to being a grandparent!  My sons’ teachers rock.  They really do.  We are so fortunate to have them guiding my young men through their lives.

Here’s what we like about these teacher gift ideas.

I think just about every teacher will tell you that while receiving a gift from a student is extremely generous and thoughtful, they do not need anymore mugs!  Think consumable.  Think function.

Something good to eat: We put a tomato plant in a wood pint berry box with a gift card tucked in behind.  Twine and circle label complete the look. Cute, right?!  Each time she/he enjoys a BLT this summer, they’ll be thinking of you. Note: font is a font with serifs via dafont.com

Something fun to do: Pay it forward.  It might be the end of the year, but your teacher will need some supplies to get going after summer vacation.  School supplies are always needed.  Using the squat gable box to house it all, we put in hand sanitizer, sharpies,  post it notes in a medium glassine bag, clips and rubber bands in the small translucent deli container.  All of the items (minus Sharpies) can be found at the dollar store.  Extra bonus! Note: font is heartquake via dafont.com

Something good to drink: It’s hot out and thirsts need to be quenched.  Place a small bottle of lemonade, fun sparkling water, or drink mixes in the lined tie top bag.  Maybe some little muffins too. On the outside of the bag we attached a medium glassine bag, perfect to hold a note and striped paper straws. Note: font is american typewriter

What do we like about all these teacher gift ideas?  They’re easy on the eyes, wallet and time.  They’re big on impact, thoughtfulness and function.

Isn’t it fun to say “thank you”?!

Just click on a pic if you want to ditch your glasses and see a larger image.
