We just received an email from Tracey letting us know how she Garnish’ed our clear acetate box.  She had a couple ideas, but we thought this one was pretty cool.

Tracey used our clear acetate box to package us this super sweet mug for her friend’s 31st birthday party.  How fun!  You can check out some more of Tracey’s ideas on her blog here.

Don’t forget to show us how you Garnish!

Yes, it’s hard to believe that January is almost over!  (thankfully, as we are in a deep freeze here)  That means it is time to think about what you’re going to give your valentine…

Here is a fun and quick idea for you.  Rice Krispie Treats mini heart cakes.  Rice Krispie Treats are just about the easiest thing to make.  Here is a recipe for you.  Make a large pan of squares and simply use three different sizes of heart cookie cutters to cut out your shapes.  Stack them on top of each other.  Next  melt some red chocolate in the microwave and drizzled it on top.  Finally, place into one of our small acetate boxes with some cinnamon hearts.  We had this pretty ribbon that we found at our local craft store to complete our Valentine treat.  Aren’t they cute?  These would be adorable for your child’s class or your favorite co-workers.

We will admit, this is not our idea.  We’ve seen a few of these types of favors floating around Pinterest and the internet.  We think it’s a fantastic idea for a baby shower favor, so we decided to put our Garnish spin on it.  If the mommy-to-be knows if she’s having a boy or a girl you can choose the appropriate color of nail polish for your favors.  If she doesn’t, then you can put out a selection of both, maybe with a question mark on the label.

We used our small acetate boxes for this idea.  They are the perfect size for a bottle of nail polish and some nail polish remover wipes (easily found at CVS or Target).  We, of course, filled ours with some candy! Add some ribbon and a round label, and you’ve got yourself a super fun giveaway!  Some other ideas might be to tie a nail file of top, or to add some of those solid colored M&M’s.  If you are looking for some gender neutral colors of nail polish…what about a selection of gray (super in right now) and orange or even brown.  Either way, we’re sure you will “nail” it! (sorry, that was cheesy….but we couldn’t help ourselves)

Valentine’s Day just isn’t about chocolates.  We happen to know someone who loves jelly beans, another person who loves cotton candy and another who loves popcorn.  Well, we’ve got a fun way to serve up that last item…add some color, perfect for your sweetheart!

How fun is this pink and red popcorn?  It’s so easy to make, and takes no time at all.  We served it up in our clear acetate boxes, or you could scoop it out of a bowl with one of our wooden cones.  It’s just the thing for your child to bring to their classmates, or to leave some on a few desks at the office.  Do you want to make some? Here’s how….

  1. Pop one bag of microwave popcorn (plain is best)
  2. In a sauce pan melt 1/2c. butter, 1/3c. brown sugar and 3tbsp of light corn syrup
  3. Once that is melted add on package of Jello, whichever color you like, stir until combined
  4. Pour mixture over popcorn and stir it up
  5. Finally, spread out onto a foil lined baking sheet that has been sprayed with non stick cooking spray (we figured that one out the hard way!), and bake in a 300F oven for 10 mins.
  6. Let cool and enjoy!

You can choose a color to suit your favorite sports team or holiday.  How about red, white and blue for 4th of July, or green for St. Patrick’s Day.

4 July 2011

We hope that you are all having an awesome 4th of July weekend!  Today we are re-posting this “What I Like About You” from last summer.  It celebrates the red, white and blue….and all that summer has to offer!

Do you hear it?!  The giggles of little ones, the laughter of grown ups.  The lively chatter of folks visiting and catching up.  The squeals of delight as friends and family reunite after a too-long absence. What’s that you ask?! Why, those are the sounds of water splashing, motor boats whirring, and paddles dipping in the lake.

Ahh, the sounds of summer.  The enjoyment of celebrating the 4th of July.  I bet you’re smiling right now just thinking of it all.  And we’ll double down, and bet you’ll enjoy these 4th of July party ideas and inspirations even more.

What’s that noise?  It’s the gentle flap of the flag dancing in the breeze. Red, white, and blue…the colors of Old Glory. And what’s this you see?  A festive party favor for your holiday table.  Candies in a 3x3x3 clear acetate box wrapped in red and white twine.  Imagine a table or tiered stand filled with these. You know how we love us something sweet!

Can you hear the sizzle of the grill?  The cooking mode of choice for an independence day festivity.  The paper chipboard tray is the serving style of choice.  Your hotdogs and sides will rest comfortably here. Burgers and lobster rolls too!  Chopped pickles in the oval dip cups and condiments in the 2oz plastic bottles (thanks to this Garnish customer for that brilliant thought!).  Give your guests a helping hand and put together disposable wooden cutlery and paper straws and a napkin too in the small white paper bag.  A pretty trim of the bag adds to the beauty.

Do brain freezes make a noise?  I don’t know about that, but I do know that everyone loves something cold on a hot summer day.  Make your own snow cones in our white paper cone cup and serve with a wooden spoon. Anything cold will do, sorbet, granita, or freeze juice in ice cubes tray.  Put those frozen cubes in a plastic bag and give it a bang.  That’s what we did and it looks pretty darn yummy!

Crackling, snapping, and maybe a little singing.  The sounds of a campfire.  A favorite way to end the day.  Gathering around the warmth of the flame and watching fireworks or fireflies.  There’s still room in those tummies for a gooey marshmallowy, chocolately treat.  Presenting all the ingredients to make your s’mores in a 4x4x4 white box, and sweet sentiment on a square clear label, will really cap off your holiday right.

We love the sounds of summer and we love the sight of a Garnished one!

Don’t forget to click on a pic if you want to see it in its full glory.

19 November 2010

It’s been a while since we have given you a “Six Pack” idea.  With the holidays quickly approaching (Thanksgiving next week!), the acetate box is the perfect thing to get those gift idea juices flowing!

(clockwise from top left) It’s time to start thinking about teacher’s gifts…or the bus driver…or the mailman…it goes on and on.  Show some holiday cheer by packing up some cute Christmas ornaments.  We put these into the large acetate box and tied it all up with some red and white twine.

Aren’t these meringues beautiful? They are so simple and elegant gifted in the small acetate box.  The perfect thing to bring to that last minute get together.

We are always looking for something unique to bring to the hostess that has everything.  If you are lucky enough to have someone else cook your meal this Thanksgiving, why not bring them a unique treasure for their home. We’ve added some caramel waxed tissue and a round kraft label.

Let’s not forget, it’s still football season.  Set out some snacks for the crowd gathering at your house.  The small acetate boxes are just the ticket.  They hold the perfect amount of snacks for all of your guests.

Mmmmm, s’mores!  We’ve shown you this idea before, but it’s such a good one, we had to show you again!  This is the perfect time of year for campfires.  If you are going to have one in your backyard this holiday, just pack up a little s’more pack for each one of your guests.  Of course, they may just want to eat it all up…even without the fire!

We love giving homemade or handmade gifts.  This mug is from a paint your own pottery shop, and these kind of treasures are perfect for grandparents…even aunts and uncles too (okay…let’s face it, just about everybody on your list!).  And wouldn’t you know it, it fits perfectly into our large acetate box.

So now we’re curious….what will you pack up?
