We were VERY excited to see Garnish in print his holiday season! So excuse us while we toot our own horn a bit…

We had Garnishes on four pages of Southern Living Magazine.    Featured are our two for the road drink carrier, cellophane bags, glassine bags and our hip 2b square geometric bowl.  This issue of Southern Living is full of great holiday gift giving, decorating and yummy recipes…so you definitely have to check it out.  A big thank you goes to out to Southern Living for having as much love for Garnish as we do.

We were featured on three pages in All Recipes Magazine as well!

All Recipes shows you how, with a little DIY, you can make these Garnishes your own.  They used our two for the road drink carrier, our wooden berry basket, cellophane bags and our windowed gable box.  Thank you to All Recipes for showing us how you Garnish and including some yummy recipes too.

We’re feeling extremely grateful for all of YOU..without whom we wouldn’t be here to have such lovely features in these magazines. Thank you so much for continuing to think of Garnish and for continuing to cross our welcome mat into our little home.

What are you going to Garnish this holiday season?  Share with us your creative ideas and you just might see them here on our blog!

You will be the hippest parent on the block when you suggest to your children they host a gingerbread house party. You don’t need to have a birthday to host a kid’s party.

We have a few tips and tricks for you to carry this party off with ease.

  • Build the houses out of graham crackers ahead of time. Use two crackers split in half for the four walls and another split in half for the roof.
  • Cut a cracker-half diagonally, creating two triangles to be used as the gable ends of the roof.
  • Royal icing is an excellent glue to hold everything together. Make a batch and fill plastic bottle containers, which is done easily if you put the icing into a piping bag, or plastic bag snipped on the corner, and squeeze into each bottle.
  • Give each guest a bottle of icing and some double dip white cups filled with candies to decorate their gingerbread house.
  • Provide gingerbread men or other holiday cookies to be decorated.
  • For the trip home, package the gingerbread houses in our frankly my dear windowed gable box. Two houses fit perfectly in one box.
  • Children love anything with their name on it so go ahead and personalize the box using stickers or rub-on letters.
  • Place the gingerbread men along with any other crafts or creations in our hello cello cellophane bags, tie with some holiday ribbon or our in the knick of twine.

This party is so easy and guaranteed to fill your house and heart with laughter and smiles. Just like that, you took a moment, and created a memory.

We have shown you several variations of this idea.  And, at holiday time, this is one of our favorite giveaways for our party guests.  After a late night (and perhaps a cocktail or two), the last thing you want to make for yourself in the morning is breakfast.  So why not send your guests away with something to relieve those hunger pangs come morning.

This time we used one of our squat gable boxes to contain these yummies.  We put some cereal into our small no soup for you container, added some corn muffins in our glassine bag and made sure to put in a spoon as well.  We were going to put milk into the small plastic bottle, but it might be out of the fridge longer than it should be, so we filled it up with juice instead.  Finally, we added a pretty napkin and a fun tag (finally, we found a use for all the fun tags we found months ago!).  Maybe if you have your guests over in the afternoon you could send them home with the fixings for dinner instead.  You can tailor this gift however you like, and either way, your guests will definitely appreciate it!

We hope every one had a great Labor Day weekend!  And speaking of labor… are some great pictures of a baby shower sent to us by one of our customers, Libba.

Libba used our large gable boxes to hold a yummy lunch for all the guests at her sister in law’s baby shower.  She used our no soup for you containers, cello bags and glassine bags to package up all the food.  We love her creativity with the labels and ribbon, to pull the whole look together.  Oh Baby…what a great idea!  Thanks for sharing Libba!

What a cute idea for a wedding shower.  Our customer, Laurel, sent us these photos of  her sister’s bridal shower.  She didn’t tell us whether or not the bride and groom were actually schoolyard sweethearts, but looking at the theme, we are guessing so.  What a unique idea!

Here is what Laurel had to say about our products…

Your products were quality, fun and affordable…and really helped make the DIY elements look professional and special. Thanks so much for helping me bring my vision to life and surprise my sister with a bridal shower that was beautiful, unique and heartfelt.

The milk with the paper straws and cookies in the cello bags is such a cute idea….and using simple doilies to decorate the large gable boxes is perfect!  Laurel also used glassine bags for the sandwiches, wooden cutlery and our baker’s twine. Thank you to Laurel for sending in her ideas and photos via E and B Photos.

11 June 2010

Today, in one product six ways, we have a looksey at the beauty of the gable box.

Named after Clark Gable, for no particular reason…we just thought he was cute, the gable box offers versatility galore.  The built in handle makes it easy to carry and the simple style adds some powerful eye candy to any situation.

  1. The small gable box offers a nice twist for gift card giving.  Either on the outside, tucked inside a small glassine bag adhered to the front, as shown or on the inside.  You choose the denomination for the gift card, make it look all cute (which doesn’t take much because the gable box is fun on it’s own), and the receiver has the fun of choosing whatever suits their fancy at the shop.
  2. The large white gable box has a multitude of functions but here we’ve shown it being used at a child’s birthday party for the favor table.  It’s nice and roomy so it can hold a bunch of stuff.  Also great to pack the food in for parties too.  Everyone just grabs their box and munches away. Keeps you out of the kitchen, now who doesn’t like that?!
  3. Busy hands make for happy children.  If you’re having little ones at your wedding, family reunion, or just a backyard BBQ supply craft kits in the squat gable box.  They’ll be thrilled they have something all their own and you’ll be thrilled to have time for some grown up mingling.
  4. Take care of those who are taking care of you.  Brides, while your wedding is your big day, don’t forget about those who are sharing in it with you.  Supply your “maids” with a bridesmaid emergency kit filled with items you feel will help them get through the night.  The squat gable box makes for a wedding day worthy presentation. Great for groomsmen too.  Or maybe it’s just some snacks to take to the photo shoot.  A fully belly leads to a happy mind and person!
  5. After a day of traveling, there is nothing better than a little treat awaiting you upon arrival at your hotel.  If your summer has a family reunion on the schedule, provide welcome kits for all those coming from afar. Great for wedding guests too.  Light snacks (don’t forget the striped paper straws) and drinks will save them from the temptation of raiding the hotel’s mini bar. Here we’ve used the windowed gable box and spruced it up a bit by removing the cellophane and adding our own decorative paper.  What a great twist!
  6. A favorite of ours.  The small gable box used as a place card for a table setting.  Pretty scrapbook stickers from the craft store spells out the name (we’re Gleeks, so name of choice today is Beth!) and a sweet surprise or mints inside.  For a conversation starter, put a question in the box.

Frankly my dears…we think the gable box rocks!

Don’t forget to click on the image if you’d like to see a close up of all the gable box’s beauty.

7 May 2010

…is more friends like Natalie.  While she is not a personal friend (maybe she’ll friend adopt me!), I know that if I was down in the trenches, I would want her right alongside me.  You see, Natalie’s bestie, Jenn, is preggers and has been put on bed rest.  So, since Jenn couldn’t go to a baby shower, Natalie brought the baby shower to her.  Using her girlfriend sneaky ways, she knew the only time that Jenn left the house was to pick her daughter up from school. During that 8 minute departure from home and bed, Natalie snuck in and set up an amazing display of friendship, love, and thoughtfulness.

The celebration took place in the backyard, picnic style.  Wooden pint size berry boxes held the nourishment, small white gable boxes held the treats (aren’t they so cute with the names?!) and, blue and white straws transported the sweet key lime sodas.

If you know someone who needs a little pick-me-up think like Natalie.  I am confident that Jenn’s world was a little brighter that day.  Being stuck at home was a little bit easier.  And her growing bundle did a little happy dance in the womb.

Moments like these…that’s what life is all about.

by the way…wouldn’t this make for a fun Memorial Day picnic?!
