When tragedy strikes someone in our community, our hearts swell and our urge to take action overwhelms us. Whether this community is where we live or in the virtual world, the meaning of community holds true.

Stephanie Neilson, the creator of NieNie Dialogues, and her husband were involved in a horrific plane crash leaving them both fighting hard for their lives as husband and wife and as parents to four young children. Design Mom is a woman who takes action and recognizes the power of the online community. She has declared today as NieNie Day in an effort to raise money for the Stephanie Neilson Fund which will go to support this family through this challenging time.

If you are a reader of the NieNie Dialogues, you quickly learned that Stephanie is a woman who cherishes her family. Her creative ways, motherly instincts, passion for her husband, and gorgeous photography have allowed us all to be voyeurs into her world. What struck us the most was that Stephanie is a woman dedicated to living life for the moment.

At Garnish, we too believe that life is a quilt of moments. A snippet of time here, a snippet of time there. Our heartstrings were yanked when we learned of this story. And we also recognize that together, we can help one family heal.

We are auctioning a "Bakery Special" for 8 and all proceeds will benefit the Stephanie Neilson Fund. We thought this to be an appropriate item...as blog readers we know that Stephanie loves to bake and food always comes to mind when thinking how to show someone we care.

The winner will be notified by email. Submit your monies to the Fund via the "donate to NieNie" button at the end of this post. Then email us a copy of your PayPal receipt from the Fund and we'll ship the items off.
